System Access Manager (SAM)

SAM is a web-based user provisioning system that ensures users, based on their job responsibility, get access only to those applications required as part of their job junction. At the same time, SAM reduces the time and effort required to set up new employees, change employee security privileges and remove privileges from terminating employees by automating processes and streamlining workflow.

SAM focuses on security of patient information through timely provisioning, based on job responsibilities, and enforcing authorization requirements. Security privileges are granted based on pre-defined “clusters” of applications. Roles are most commonly defined as a combination of department code + job code; however application “clusters” can also be defined at the cost center, department, facility, or project level. Systems access is limited to only those systems a user requires in order to perform their job function. SAM creates an audit trail of all security administration transactions and generates security reports. SAM is a good addition to your HIPAA compliance tool box.

SAM provides for timely setup and maintenance of user access. It can be interfaced with the Human Resources system, so new user accounts are automatically created, or existing accounts changed or terminated based on job changes. New users are presented with a summary sheet of their user account information and are ready to go to work on day one. And SAM ensures that system access is quickly discontinued when a user leaves the organization.

SAM improves productivity of System Administrators, IT Staff and managers by streamlining workflow and automating processes. With our optional “auto-administration” functionality, SAM interfaces with other systems to automatically set up or deactivate user rights within those systems, no longer requiring human intervention. When automation isn’t possible or desirable, SAM will manage the workflow to the system administrator for creation/maintenance of user accounts in those applications.
